The attractive privately-owned hotel, Château les Bruyères: a story that began in the XIII Century in Normandy.
From 1904 to 1914, the château, which was not yet a hotel, hosted
Marcel Proust whenever he came to Normandy for a cure. He also stayed at
the Grand Hotel in Cabourg, but found the charm of the inland countryside
more favourable for his sleep.
It was in 1922 that the château was transformed into a hotel after
alterations made with the greatest respect for the regional architectural
style.
The ten-hectare park was adorned with vegetable and aromatic herb gardens for the opening of the gastronomic restaurant, which offers a large array of delicious specialities from the Pays d'Auge, the Côte de Nacre and Normandy.
